Members of the African diaspora who have completed a minimum of three academic quarters as a matriculated, degree-seeking student in a degree-granting program. Degrees include Bachelors, Masters, Ph.D., MLA.

Affiliate Membership: open to members of the African Diaspora who are Stanford Affiliates including Stanford faculty, staff, interns, residents, fellows, certificate holders, postdocs, Travel/Study participants, Stanford parents and spouses of SNBAA members. An affiliate membership is similar to an alumni membership, with the exception of certain benefits that the SNBAA reserves for alumni.

What is the difference between SNBAA and SBAA?
The Stanford National Black Alumni Association (SNBAA) is a separate organization from each local Stanford Black Alumni Association (SBAA) clubs. While many of the membership benefits of the two programs are similar, these are the primary differences:

An SNBAA membership offers access to private SNBAA events and programming, including the Black Alumni Summit, SNBAA at Stanford Sierra Camp, and Reunion Homecoming activities. Additionally, membership in SNBAA offers access to the Black Alumni Community Book for networking.

The Stanford Black Alumni Association membership offers additional access to local SBAA club events and programming. Learn more about SBAA Membership by contacting your local club.
Does membership in my local SBAA club automatically make me a member of SNBAA?
No, membership in your local club does not automatically make you a member of SNBAA. Conversely, membership in SNBAA does not automatically grant you membership in your local SBAA club.
How can I apply for the SNBAA Board of Directors?
The Board of Directors is the decision-making body for the Stanford National Black Alumni Association. It is a working board comprised of talented and energetic alumni full of Cardinal pride and love for Stanford’s Black community. Each board member serves a 3-year term beginning on January 1st of the year immediately following board election/appointment. The application submission period typically opens at the end of the 3rd quarter or beginning of the 4th quarter of each year.
